The Straight Sword is consider the noblest of
all the martial arts weapons. Its fast and elegant
implementation is often associated with the flight of
the dragon or phoenix. The movements must be
performed in a lightning, the strength and flexibility
should be readily jousting by the practitioner, so its
handling is rather complex.
This is also why in ancient times was the weapon
of the officers of high rank.
The sword was the weapon of scholars and warriors alike and often the privilege of the wealthy and those in the official ranks of power and influence. . It was an indication of high social status. Many dynasties promulgated specific sword-bearing laws, generally stipulating that common laboring people were disallowed from sword ownership. Moreover most favored of officials were prohibited from wearing a sword when summoned to the imperial court.
The swordplay origins were associated with the calligraphy origing: skilled swordplay resembled dancing calligraphy , calligraphy was consider swordplay on paper.
